About the R4R

Kevin Royston - father, husband, friend and avid cyclist with a 20+ year history of racing bikes - was brutally assaulted by a hit and run driver in broad daylight on Tuesday June 5th, 2012 and left for dead. He was discovered roadside, air-lifted to a Strong with severe trauma to his lower body - his bike shattered into 3 pieces, his leg into 4. Amongst other things, this assault on Kevin resulted in the amputation of his left leg.

As a community of family, friends and cyclists we're coming together to help defray the costs this horrific experience has burdened the Royston family with and to bring awareness to the seriousness and legal responsibility we have as drivers to SHARE THE ROAD.

On Saturday, August 4th 2012 NiceTRI™ Multisport Coaching & Rentals, Geneva Bicycle Center and friends will be hosting two “group rides” at Bristol Mountain Ski Resort, followed by a buffet dinner, Nu-Look Collision Center's "Ride for Royston Raffle", a Silent Auction and more! Everything will take place there - the dinner, raffle, silent auction etc. as well as the group ride start and finish points.

The Dinner Will Begin ~ 6:00PM

Group Ride Information

Both rides begin and end at Bristol Mountain. Rides will be semi-supported - a sag wagon and a rest stop here and there with drinks and nourishment of varied sources. You know the deal : )

COURSE NOTES:
The Long Ride is for experienced riders and will have one water stop at the halfway point with Gatorade and Clif Bars. The Short Ride does have several steep climbs and is recommended for experienced riders as well, but will not have a water stop along the way. All riders are required to wear a helmet, and bring the appropriate amount of hydration and nutrition to complete the rides. Please do not attempt the rides unless you are confident in your ability to ascend and descend the terrain that surrounds the Bristol Mountain Ski Resort Area.

Longer Ride  : 70 miler

Riders who're looking to put in a little more mileage that day will be departing a few hours before the shorter 3PM "Solidarity" ride. We'll be planning to put in roughly 70 miles of semi-supported riding.

*This group will reverse its route and ride back to Bloomfield Elementary School and join the 25mi Solidarity Ride @ 4PM and the groups will both return to Bristol en masse.

Shorter "Solidarity" Ride  : 25 miler

The 25 mile Solidarity Ride will depart as a group from Bristol at 3pm and will join the long ride group at the Bloomfield Elementary School (the halfway point of the ride). Both groups will leave the Elementary School at 4pm and will return en masse. This is a "no drop" ride where we will all stick together, but riders are required to ride single file and right of the white line (road conditions permitting).

† Registration :
Hopefully you've purchased your event ticket online, but you'll still need to arrive early to register. This is also when we'll be processing everyone who's riding, selling jerseys etc.
Please respect our 30 minute pre-ride preparation time. We will also have a rider's meeting before each ride start which will complicate matters if we're also processing late arrivals.

Purchase Event Tickets

Due to the limited number of folks we can accommodate we are strongly encouraging everyone to reserve your place(s) for the event by purchasing your tickets here online.

Just print out your PayPal receipt and bring it to the ride with you on August 4th.

NOTE: Each $60.00 "Ride, Dinner and Raffle Ticket" ticket purchase, includes 1 Nu-Look Collision R4R Raffle Ticket
